Today’s Style and Yesterday’s Look – Bringing together Old and New

Updated: Jan 16, 2019

In today’s society, weddings have become grand events that can get costly. One way to save a few pennies, but also add meaningful touches is to repurpose and reuse family heirlooms. This specific shoot was styled for a bold, rich fall wedding. Using deep reds, soft neutrals, and antique golds with a pop of dusty blues we were able to create a fresh look to the rustic antique feel we wanted to create with our repurposed pieces. The shoot came to life from one piece of inspo, our “bride’s” mother’s wedding gown. The antique lace, button back, and long sleeves motivated our theme of timeless beauty. By pulling together a great grandmother’s fur shaw, a great uncle’s decanter and whiskey glass set, a father’s old 1920’s Ford Coupe, a friend’s flatware, and a mother’s gown we achieved a new look with sentimental pieces. The stories each of these heirlooms brought to this shoot seamlessly created a feeling of timeless, epic love. Visit your families’ houses, ask to take a look around, feel the life these pieces could bring to your big day.
